At Gorelik Dentistry, we are concerned about your oral health as well as your overall health and work hard to help you maintain optimal wellbeing. October is breast cancer awareness month, which is an annual campaign to highlight breast cancer to get women to take part in early detection and treatment. Next to skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in America.

The American Cancer Society fights breast cancer by helping women receive testing to detect breast cancer early, to understand treatment options, and how to cope with the physical and emotional after-effects. The ACS also funds research to help fight this disease. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Gorelik Dentistry in Charlotte, North Carolina, is focusing on breast cancer awareness locally by supporting Carolina’s Breast Friends, and by fundraising the entire month of October.

How You Can Help

What does this mean for you? For every donation we receive, Dr. Gorelik is matching the money raised to support Carolina Breast Friends. To thank you for your support, Gorelik Dentistry will be sponsoring giveaways.

First place prize: one Pink Diamond Toothbrush. This is a Sonicare DiamondClean Pink Edition electric toothbrush.

Second place prize: two Adult tickets to the Carolina Renaissance Festival. This fair is held annually on Saturdays and Sundays in October and November where renaissance enthusiasts can enjoy great food, falconry, jousting knights on horseback, crafts, games, rides and artisan marketplace.

What is Carolina Breast Friends?

Carolina Breast Friends is a non-profit organization begun in 2003 by Kristy Adams-Ebel, who was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 32 years old. Her goal was to create a supportive community of fellow survivors. Although Kristy lost her fight with cancer in 2006, her husband continues her legacy by helping women fight their battle with breast cancer with the help of Carolina Breast Friends.

The Pink House

The Pink House is inspired by Kristy Adams-Ebel and is a sanctuary for breast cancer survivors. The Pink House hosts guest speakers on wellness education and offers a healing garden for relaxation and meditation. The Pink House has a library and computer research center, a fitness center, a nutrition center and arts and crafts workshops. Not only does the Pink House offer mentoring for their new members, but it also offers resources and products for breast cancer patients.
